The Pope sent Mother Cabrini to New York City on March 31, 1889. There, she obtained the permission of Archbishop Michael Corrigan to found an orphanage. This Italian Saint, who became an American citizen founded 67 institutions across America including institutions in New York, Chicago, Seattle, New Orleans, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia.
