Remnant Feast Day: St. John the Apostle
Blog (News) Archive   >   Remnant Feast Days

December 27, 2007

Saint John is shown without a beard because he was the youngest, possibly even 17 when Jesus died.  The beloved apostle was the only teenager of the apostles and he is also the only one to follow Christ all the way to the Cross, the only one to die a natural death and Christ entrusted the care of His own mother Mary to the care of this teenage apostle.  Remnant owes much of our formation to the Community of St. John who has St. John as their patron.  The Community has shown us an example of St. John's great love for Mary the Mother of God and for St. Peter and the Papacy.  On our Road Trip pilgrimage in 2004 we read the full Gospel of John in the course of 5 days it was awesome.  We ask the prayers of St. John that we may be bold in our stages of life, especially the teenage years.  We also ask for a increased love for the Mother of God and our Mother and a love for our Holy Father the Pope.
